The Drifter Mini Filter uses a media called the Disruptor. This media uses mechanical filtration for larger particles and electroabsorptive technology to remove bacteria/legionella, viruses, cyst, endotoxin, polysaccharides, collois, trace pharmaceuticals, other pathogens and some metals. We recommend this filter when requiring extra protection during times of filtering stagnant water, questionable tap water, and foreign travel. It takes roughly 6-9 minutes to filter 2.2 liters of water. Its 3rd party tested and rated for 200 gallons. However, this depends on your water source. When flow rate slows to 12 minutes or more, it's time for a new filter. They can be ordered directly from our website.

*We recommend the first time you use this filter to squeeze the bag to purge any air from the filter and to help soak the media element. ​Run one complete transporter bag of water through it before your first use.

We have designed our system to be compatible with Katadyn's popular BeFree Cartridge. The Katadyn BeFree filter uses a hollow fiber membrane. In a nutshell, hollow fiber membrane filters like the Katadyn are microscopic screens that mechanically filter out particles larger than .1 to .2 microns such as bacteria. We like this filter when filtering clear moving water from a mountain stream or spring. It takes approximately 2 minutes to filter 2.2 liters of water.

Whatever filter option you choose (we carry one of each with us), we recommend always carrying a second water filter as a backup. These can be purchased directly from our website.

We've all done it, dropped a water bladder and put a pin hole in it. Or forgot to clean it after a long trip. It's because of this that we carry two Transporter water bags with us. Just in case. This also allows us the ability to pack extra water in the event we won't be near a water source for some time. When needed, simply remove it from your pack, and backfill your reservoir through the filter of your choice by utilizing the quick disconnects.
